How to clean transfer belt?

  • Hi, how to clean transfer belt? will it damage easily?

  • Dear Machelle,

    Please clean it very carefully.

You can clean your printer's transfer roll if your printouts contain excess toner or toner spots. Remove the component from your printer according to the directions in the printer's manual, and then use a can of compressed air to blow off any toner residue. Use short bursts of air, wear gloves and hold the transfer roll over a trashcan or sink to keep the ink off of your clothes. You can also gently wipe the roll with a lint-free cloth to remove excess toner. Do not touch the roll with your fingers as oils on your fingers can damage the component. Also, do not use water or any type of liquid to clean your transfer roll. Liquids change the electrical properties of the roll and can damage the component. If your laser printer is a color model with a transfer belt, do not clean the component using compressed air or a cloth. Instead, consult your printer's manual on care instructions. Transfer belts are not made out of rubber like transfer rolls, and you can damage components if you use the wrong cleaning method.
